This privacy notice covers SALT Volunteers and all subsidiary companies parented by Salt Holdings CIC (Community Interest Company).

SALT Volunteers takes our responsibility to everyone who entrusts us with their personal data very seriously. This notice outlines what data we may collect, how we may use it, how we protect your data and what are your rights.

This notice includes any data we collect from you during your relationship with SALT Volunteers.

This may include:

  • Any paper forms you fill out.
  • Verbal data collection.
  • Forms via our website OR online surveys.

SALT Volunteers process personal data in compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998.

The Types of Data We Collect

We collect only the personal details needed to fulfill the service you expect from SALT Volunteers. Depending on the service, the information required may include:

  • Contact details to allow communication with you regarding the service or product SALT Volunteers is providing to you;
  • Employment, learning and other personal details to determine eligibility and suitability of service;
  • Information to improve customer service;
  • Demographic, attendance and narrative information to enable us to demonstrate to current or future funders the outputs, outcomes and impact of our programs and products. Unless express permission is given by you for a Case Study this is only used in a collective annonymised form.

Using Your Personal Data

SALT Volunteers will use your details for legitimate purposes including:

  • Communications about our charitable purpose, membership, campaigns fundraising, training and other activities;
  •  Administration of volunteer records, membership, training records and employment records;
  • Fulfilment of orders for goods and services;
  • Customer satisfaction surveys;
  • In house research and analysis;
  • Purpose of prevention and detection of crime including CCTV.
  • Informing you about products and services.

Disclosures of Your Personal Data

We will not, without your consent, supply any of your personal data to any third party except where:

  • The transfer is to a secure data processor who carries out data processing operations on our behalf
  • The transfer is to a successor in title to the business
  • We are required to do so by operation of law

If there is a situation, where we are asked to share some of your personal data with Contractors, Funders or a Service supplier we will make sure you are informed and we will obtain your consent to share your data. We will make sure your details are safe, secure and only used for the limited purpose you have provided them to us.

We will not share or sell your personal data to a third party organisation for marketing or fundraising purposes.

We use technical and organisational precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of your personal data.

Use of Data Processors

We may occasionally use a third party company to manage collation, processing and storage of your personal information on our behalf. We carefully choose these companies making sure they are screened to maximise protection of your security and privacy. They are permitted to use the data in accordance with our instructions only.

Direct Marketing/Fundraising

We would like to keep you up to date with our activities and include you, from time to time in our marketing and fundraising. We will obtain your consent to contact you by post, e-mail, phone or text about SALT products or services we think you would be interested.

You have the right under the Data Protection Act to ask us in writing for a data subject access request to obtain a copy of the information that we hold about you (for which we may charge a £10 fee).
